Apple is going to start scanning iCloud photos for child abuse images. I am personally conflicted on this - on the one hand this will hopefully stop predators getting away with some horrible things.
On the other hand it is almost equally as creepy to think that images are getting analysed at all and seems in conflict to Apple’s public image of trying to be more privacy focused than Google.
Of course now that Blackberry and Windows Phone are pretty much dead there isn’t much choice.
Personally I’ll keep my iPhone and keep using iCloud photos as the benefits outweigh the drawbacks for myself. Most of the pictures I take are either nature, or circuit boards and dull things for work. They can enjoy looking at that. But I am entirely aware of the dangers to privacy this sort of thing creates…
