Are dotted displays ok for phones

My little brother just bought a second hand android phone recently and he was happy that he got it for cheap because of the dotted display. But i was worried that could the display be badly damaged after a while of use.

If the display is damaged you may get away with use but generally they can get worse with time. Depending on the phone and how much new screens are it might be worth looking into how much it would be to replace the screen.
