In theory the battery shouldn’t affect this.
I have to admit I’m a bit stumped as your machine should be able to reinstall 7 if it’s running now.
Windows 10, if you can get it to install might run a little slow but it should still be possible.
I’ll do a bit more research into the problem and update this thread when I can. It’s been a number of years since I have dealt with Windows 7 so my knowledge of its quirks and problems is a little rusty!
