Lines on screen

My laptop has weird lines flicking on the screen. Like an old vhs tape or poorly tuned tv.

Could this be software related. Or do I need to take it to the computer shop.

This is an odd issue. Are the lines static or do they come and go? How often?

My gut feeling would be to say this is something hardware related, perhaps a faulty screen or, commonly, it’s the LVDS cable from the motherboard to the monitor - they are normally routed through the hinge and they slowly break down as they age through being moved around when the lid is opened/closed.
